Health Promotion and Excellent Organization Awards for Jeju Island
Jejudo County in South Korea wins the title of "Operating Department of Health Promotion Center" at the 2023 Korean Traditional and Western Medicine Expo.

According to a report from news1, Jejudo County in South Korea has been awarded the title of "Health Promotion Center Operation City and County Evaluation Department" at the 2023 Korea Chinese and Western Medicine Integration Expo. The county also received the Outstanding Organization Award in the "2023 Community Smoking Cessation Project".

At the Korean Chinese and Western Medicine Integration Expo held in the South Jejudo region last September, the health departments of 22 cities and counties in the province participated and carried out health projects tailored to the characteristics of their respective regions. They also operated health promotion centers to promote local specialties. Jejudo's health department, with the theme "Zero Stress! Creating Healthy Skin", provided experiences in making turmeric sprays and healthy cookies made from local specialties and medicinal herbs such as turmeric, goji berries, mugwort, and black rice. These offerings received positive feedback from visitors.

In addition, in order to create a smoke-free environment, the local health center has initiated a resident-led movement in the area, including the establishment of mobile smoking cessation clinics, smoking prevention education, consultations for smokers, and resident-led guided activities based on different stages of the lifecycle, all aimed at promoting smoke-free apartments and public institutions.

Previously, the Jejudo County Health Center was recognized as an outstanding institution in the field of community oral healthcare and Korean traditional medicine health promotion services at an event organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korean Institute of Health and Development. This remarkable achievement signifies a double crown victory.

Han Xue Xi, the director of the Zhen Island County Health Center, stated, "We will strive to prevent residents from smoking and promote a smoke-free environment in order to build a healthy Zhen Island." She also mentioned, "In the future, we will continue to participate in medical expos and make every effort to promote our region by showcasing the unique experiences and attractions in Zhen Island County."
