2Firsts, September 23, 2025 - According to news.mail.ru on September 22, the Committee of the Republic of Belarus discussed the issue of improving the legal regulation of the electronic cigarette system and its circulation and use (consumption).
The meeting pointed out that the National Assembly often receives requests to ban e-cigarettes and take measures to prevent children and adolescents from developing this harmful habit. In addition, it is long overdue to establish appropriate laws and regulations in this area, with the aim of promoting national health development and protecting citizens' rights.
At the same time, it has long been believed that e-cigarettes are less harmful to the human body than regular cigarettes. However, e-liquid contains nicotine, formaldehyde, and carcinogens, which are harmful to human health. Inhaling e-liquid can lead to decreased attention, increased anxiety, DNA damage, as well as consequences such as cancer, heart disease, depression, and increased risk of addiction.
The meeting thoroughly discussed key conceptual clauses of the relevant bill, which include strict limitations on sales locations, advertising bans, public display of e-cigarette systems, samples, and packaging, online sales, and personal (including sole proprietors) sales clauses.
The Republican Committee stated: "Therefore, the participants at the meeting expressed their commitment to take all possible measures to protect the Belarusian people, especially the lives and health of children and young people, and emphasized the need for a comprehensive solution to this issue.
