Bangladesh’s High Court issued a rule asking why Section 6(G) of the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) Act, 2005 — which bans the import, supply and sale of vapes and e-cigarettes — should not be declared unconstitutional and illegal.

A bill introduced in Singapore’s Parliament on Feb. 12 proposes major increases in penalties for vaping-related offences, including higher maximum fines for users, sellers and smugglers. The draft would also rename the current Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act as the Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act.

Nebraska lawmakers heard testimony on LB1254, which would require electronic smoking devices sold in the state to include built-in child safety features. Violations would be a Class IV misdemeanor carrying a fine of up to $500. Supporters argued young children can easily activate unprotected devices by inhaling, risking exposure to nicotine and other toxic chemicals, and said safeguards should mirror child-resistant measures used for medications and other household products.

Public health groups in the Philippines are urging the government to impose an absolute ban on e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and other nicotine delivery products, citing health harms and increasing accessibility among youth. The call follows Myanmar’s move to become the eighth ASEAN country to implement a total vape ban and comes as the Philippine Congress deliberates tobacco and vape taxation.

Elfbar said restricting vape flavour choices—potentially under the Tobacco and Vapes Bill—could disrupt established quitting behaviours and increase relapse risk among former smokers. An Opinium survey commissioned by the company reported fruit and sweet flavours have risen in popularity among adult vapers quitting smoking in Scotland, with 62% now using them most often to quit, up from 34% in December 2024.

Radio Iowa reported that House Speaker Pat Grassley said House Republicans are wrestling with Gov. Kim Reynolds’ proposal to raise Iowa’s tax on tobacco products and impose a new 15% sales tax on vaping products. Grassley said the idea is in a “holding pattern,” noting it does not align neatly with recent Republican moves to cut income taxes, and that House Republicans already removed the proposed tax increase from the governor’s MAHA bill.
