Nilüfer Municipality in Bursa held a scientific talk titled “Does Addiction Change Form? Cigarettes, E-Cigarettes and Lung Health” as part of February 9 Quit Smoking Day, aiming to raise awareness of the social impact of tobacco addiction. Experts discussed cigarette and e-cigarette addiction, risks for young people, harms of secondhand smoke for children, and health outcomes linked to tobacco use.

Daegu’s Jung-gu District announced on Feb. 10 that, following amendments to the Tobacco Business Act that explicitly classify liquid e-cigarettes containing synthetic nicotine as “tobacco” (effective April 24, 2026), the district will expand regulations to include fines for vaping such products in designated nonsmoking areas. The district health office said smokers/vapers could face an administrative fine of up to 100,000 won for using synthetic-nicotine liquid e-cigarettes in smoke-free zones

Surrey Councillor Gordon Hepner presented a notice of motion calling on council to “wage war on vaping” by strengthening controls on the sale of vaping products in the city, citing vaping as a “serious health concern,” especially among youth. Hepner said the motion directs staff to bring back the “most restrictive legally supportable” package from the City’s 2019 bylaw work to materially reduce where and how vape products can be sold, including licensing controls and enforcement.

Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) proposed move to restrict harmful vape products to protect young people, but said only a total ban on all vaping and novel tobacco products would effectively safeguard public health. The group warned that limiting rules to certain products such as open pods and e-liquids could create a “dangerous behavioral loophole,” leading users—especially youth—to switch to disposable or closed-system alternatives instead of quitting.

Russian authorities say they have dismantled an illegal vape-liquid production site in the Moscow region, seizing four production lines, large quantities of components and finished goods, and substantial cash. The Interior Ministry estimated the seized products’ value at about 1 billion rubles (≈$13 million) and said the operation ran around the clock, producing up to 75,000 units per shift.

Florida lawmakers have introduced HB 389, a proposal to expand smoke-free protections by banning smoking and vaping in public places and enclosed indoor workplaces across the state. The bill broadens statutory definitions and outlines limited exceptions and compliance rules, with an effective date of July 1, 2026 if enacted.

Philip Morris International (PMI) is investing $600 million to build a ZYN nicotine pouch plant in Aurora, Colorado. While the facility is still under construction, PMI said production started in September 2025 and the first pouches made at the site have already gone to market.
