ELFBAR Met with MHRA and Settled the E-liquid Controversy with the Regulators

On February 6, the British "Daily Mail" published an article stating that ELFBAR 600 electronic cigarettes (watermelon flavor) were found to contain excessive nicotine after sampling and testing. Subsequently, the relevant products were removed from the shelves of three large British supermarket chains by ELFBAR's British distributors.

On February 10, ELFBAR held a symposium with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency(MHRA) and issued a statement apologizing and guaranteeing the recall of illegal products.

2Firsts invited MHRA, the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA), and the Independent British Vape Trade Association (IBVTA) for interviews and asked for their views and opinions:

IBVTA chief executive Gillian Golden said he would need to discuss it with the board before releasing more information. UKVIA said the topic was sensitive and could not disclose any information as Elfbar's negotiations with the MHRA were still ongoing.

According to a reply from Amirah, MHRA's media relations representative, to 2Firsts, MHRA is reviewing Elfbar's statement and cannot comment further on this inquiry. However, in reply to the e-mail of 2Firsts, Amirah, UKVIA, and IBVTA issued the same statement on Twitter, saying that Elfbar has talked with the regulators about the controversy of excessive e-liquid filling. As a result, ELFBAR has committed to withdrawing relevant products from the market until compliance requirements are met.

Amirah stated that multiple agencies and systems, such as TRPR manage the UK's regulatory requirements for e-cigarettes (including disposable e-cigarettes). E-cigarette regulators include Trading Standards, the Health and Safety Executive, the Advertising Standards Agency, and Public Health England, which are currently working with trade organizations to identify and remove non-compliant products from the market and assist producers in meeting compliance requirements.

2Firsts is still actively contacting relevant supermarkets and wholesalers and will follow up on the latest news on time. Please stay tuned.
