EU's Ban on Flavored Heated Tobacco Comes Into Effect

On November 23, European Commission announced the implementation of the amended directive regarding prohibiting flavored heated tobacco proposed in June this year.

The European Commission Website shows that the "Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2022/2100 on the withdrawal of certain exemptions in respect of heated tobacco products" officially came into force on November 23, 2022.

 

It's informed that EU Member States will have 8 months to translate the directive into national legislation, and 3 months thereafter will be the transition period when retailers can consume their stocks of banned products. The new national laws will be fully applicable from October 23, 2023.
