FDA Published New Tobacco Product Petition Webpage

On March 23, the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) announced a new webpage to display all citizen petitions related to tobacco products received by the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP).

Citizen petition is how the FDA provides individuals, representatives of the regulated industry, or consumer groups who can petition the agency to issue, amend, revoke a regulation, or take other administrative action. Citizen petition requirements are outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations.

As part of CTP's public commitment to increased transparency, this web page was developed to provide the public with more accessible information about citizen petitions submitted to FDA related to tobacco products and the Center's responses.

The webpage is one of the direct actions toward institutional transparency outlined by CTP Director Brian King in the CTP's response to the Reagan-Udall Foundation report.
