EVO NXT 2025 to Open in Milan on April,2FIRSTS Returns as Official Media Partner
From April 3 to 4, EVO NXT will officially kick off in Milan, Italy. Tickets are now on sale. The EVO NXT exhibition will cover all segments of the next-generation tobacco products (NGP) industry, bringing together numerous renowned exhibitors. As the official media partner of the event, 2FIRSTS will focus on key highlights and contribute to the sustainable development of the new tobacco industry.

Dortmund, 6 March 2025 – The timetable for the EVO NXT Stage and the Vision Room has filled up even more. And it promises valuable input on the industry's pressing topics and issues. For example Messe Dortmund was able to win Andrea di Paolo, BAT Italia Vice President and Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Director, as a speaker on the topic of ‘Innovation and sustainability: harm reduction and health policies’. He will hold the slot on 3 April, 12:40 hrs, at the EVO NXT Stage. Also on the first day of the fair, at 17:00 hrs, Jonas Lundqvist, CEO of the Nordic Nicotine Pouches Alliance (NNPA.EU, partner of EVO NXT), will speak on the important topic of ‘EU and Nicotine Pouches: Regulatory Challenges and what's next’.

On 4 April, Dr Sarah Cordery, Scientific Officer at Imperial Brands, will be on the EVO NXT Stage at 10:50 hrs and will speak on the topic of ‘Heated Tobacco - Evidence Supporting Its Role in Tobacco Harm Reduction’. At 14:30 hrs, Jose Becerrill, Senior Consultant Tobacco & Cannabis at Euromonitor International, will give a presentation on ‘A regional outlook of the tobacco industry and the challenging transition towards NGPs’. The company conducts market research on consumer goods, economic sectors, demographic trends and lifestyles in Europe. Lukas Zdrazil, Brand Strategy Expert at ICE, will take part in the panel on ‘Global Nicotine Industry Trends & Innovation (Hosted by Tobacco Journal International & Global Institute for Novel Nicotine)’ on 4 April at 11:20 hrs and will speak at 13:45 hrs on ‘The Power of Brand - Driving Consumer Relevance in the Nicotine Pouches Category’.

Live and online, the Vision Room will also provide a current update on the most important political developments in Brussels and throughout the EU at 12:00 hrs on this day. More information on this innovative hybrid event organised by Tobacco Europe can be found here.

An exciting competition will also enter the next round on 3 April at 15:00 hrs. Last year in Málaga, the best liquid artists from the vaping scene competed against each other for the first time. Their goal: to convince a jury of experts of their individual liquid flavour creation. After EVO NXT 2024 and the second round at InterTabac/InterSupply in Dortmund in September, the Mission Mixologist Battle is now entering its spectacular third round! Defending champion Cristian Gallardo González from Vapers Experience will find out whether all good things come in threes then, being the winner of both previous events.

He now has to prove himself again in front of the jury in two rounds in Milan. His opponents: Goran Kristic (GASD GmbH), Filip Tokic (Dotmod d.o.o.) and Paulo Alves (Dexter/Feal). At the EVO NXT Stage, the audience will be able to watch the liquids being created live and immerse themselves in the art of mixing. Lots of excitement included.

>>> Note for journalists: Accreditation for EVO NXT 2025 is now possible. Please let us know when you would like to attend the Business Festival via e-mail to presse@evo-nxt.de and send us a suitable document to legitimise you as a trade journalist. EVO NXT will be held in Milan on 3 and 4 April 2025 and is the meeting place for players in the NGP industry. In Italy, manufacturers, retailers, distributors, researchers and investors, among others, will convene to discuss the current state of the industry and work together to set course for the future, and they'll be doing so in a very special atmosphere, because EVO NXT is an innovative business festival with a unique mix of information and entertainment– making it the perfect forum reflecting and supporting an innovative industry as it seeks to move forward.

Rethinking Nicotine Harm Reduction: A Neuroscientist’s Perspective on Scientific Gaps and Future Directions — By Dr. Xin-an Liu
After France’s ANSES report on nicotine products and harm reduction, Dr. Xin-an Liu wrote to 2Firsts reassessing the field’s foundations. She argues the debate reveals gaps in evidence on long-term behavioral substitution, addiction pathways and neurobiological impacts, and calls for longitudinal research, integrated behavioral science and neuroimaging, clearer risk assessment and stronger transparency to ensure policy and next-generation product development rest on solid evidence.

Alan Zhao: What the Rise of Nicotine Pouches Means for Tobacco Retailers
Alan Zhao argues that nicotine pouches are no longer a niche alternative, but a force quietly reshaping the future of tobacco retail. For distributors and retailers, the real risk is not missing a trend—it is moving too late, after regulation tightens, shelf space hardens and the market begins to choose its winners.
