Latest Data Reveals High Smoking Rates in Egypt
Egypt has become a high-smoking rate country with 20 million smokers, 6 million of whom consume illegal smuggled tobacco.

In recent news, according to a report by Ahlmasrnews, Dr. Wael Safwat, Chairman of the Arab Anti-Smoking and Smoking Opposition Union, has unveiled the latest data and statistics regarding the number of smokers in Egypt. He emphasized that Egypt has become a country with alarmingly high smoking rates worldwide.

 

In a televised speech, Dr. Wael Saffet further added that according to official data, Egyptians consume 70 billion cigarette sticks per year.

 

He pointed out that the use of e-cigarettes has not been included in the statistics, therefore it is not possible to determine their quantity, and the number of e-cigarettes sold is also not clearly accounted for.

 

The Chairman of the Arab Coalition Against Smoking and Smoking explained that the number of smokers in Egypt is estimated to be around 20 million, of which 6 million are consuming smuggled tobacco that does not bear the required warning signs and images.
