British American Tobacco Japan (BAT Japan) has introduced glo Hyper pro+, a new heated tobacco device positioned as an upgrade within the existing glo Hyper platform. Rather than introducing a new consumable ecosystem or heating architecture, the device focuses on improving the user experience through faster startup, clearer device status visibility and enhanced maintenance support.
According to BAT Japan’s official announcement, glo Hyper pro+ became available in Japan on July 13, 2026, through the glo official online store and glo Store Ginza.
Faster Startup and Status Visibility Drive the Upgrade
The main improvements in glo Hyper pro+ focus on simplifying the daily usage process.
The device introduces:
QuickStart™ technology
After inserting a tobacco stick, the device automatically begins heating. BAT Japan states that QuickStart™ reduces the waiting time before the first puff to 10 seconds, approximately twice as fast as the previous glo Hyper pro model.
The device also features:
EasyView™ screen
The display provides information including:
- Battery level;
- Heating mode;
- Session progress.
Users can also switch between Standard Mode and Boost Mode before use, allowing different heating experiences within the same device.
Digital Maintenance Support Extends Device Management
Beyond immediate usage improvements, BAT Japan has also upgraded long-term device management.
glo Hyper pro+ provides cleaning notifications through both the device display and the myglo™ app, helping users identify when maintenance is required.
BAT Japan recommends cleaning:
- Once per month; or
- After 500 sessions;
- whichever comes first.
Through myglo™ app connectivity, users can also manage device usage information, personalize display settings, and access location and locking functions if the device is misplaced.
Maintaining the Existing Hyper Consumable Ecosystem
Unlike some new heated tobacco platforms that introduce dedicated new consumables, glo Hyper pro+ continues supporting existing Hyper-format tobacco sticks.
Compatible consumables include:
- neo;
- Lucky Strike;
- KENT.
This indicates that BAT’s latest upgrade focuses on improving the device experience while maintaining continuity within the existing glo Hyper ecosystem.
Japan Launch and Commercial Availability
glo Hyper pro+ entered the Japanese market on July 13, 2026.
Initial sales channels include:
- glo official online store;
- glo Store Ginza.
The device is available in four colors:
- Moss Green;

- Blue;
- Stella Silver.

Industry Perspective
As the heated tobacco market matures, device competition is increasingly shifting from fundamental heating technology changes toward improvements in user experience.
The glo Hyper pro+ does not replace BAT’s existing Hyper platform architecture. Instead, it enhances the current ecosystem through faster startup, clearer status feedback and improved maintenance management.
Compared with PMI’s approach of testing a separate heating architecture through bonds by IQOS, BAT is taking a different route by refining an established platform while maintaining its existing consumable ecosystem.
This reflects two different strategies among major tobacco companies: exploring new technology platforms while simultaneously extending the lifecycle of existing heated tobacco systems.
