Philip Morris Japan (PM Japan) has introduced the IQOS ILUMA i REMIX Limited Edition, adding a new design-focused variant to the IQOS ILUMA i portfolio. The limited-edition series was announced on June 9, 2026, and entered the Japanese market through a phased rollout beginning June 10, including IQOS official channels, flagship stores and selected retail partners.
Unlike technology-focused product upgrades, the REMIX Limited Edition focuses primarily on visual design, brand experience and consumer personalization, using limited colors and exclusive styling to differentiate the established IQOS ILUMA i platform.
Gradient Design Creates a New Visual Identity
The main feature of the IQOS ILUMA i REMIX Limited Edition is its redesigned appearance.
According to PM Japan, the series uses gradient color effects designed to reflect changes in light and color transitions. The “REMIX” concept is positioned around refreshing a familiar product through new visual elements and creating a renewed consumer experience.
The limited edition includes three models:
● IQOS ILUMA i Prime REMIX
● IQOS ILUMA i REMIX
● IQOS ILUMA i ONE REMIX
The IQOS ILUMA i Prime REMIX is positioned as the premium version, priced at ¥11,980. The IQOS ILUMA i REMIX is priced at ¥7,980, while the IQOS ILUMA i ONE REMIX is priced at ¥4,980.
Phased Launch Across Japan
The IQOS ILUMA i REMIX Limited Edition began commercial availability in Japan from June 10, 2026.
The first phase included:
- IQOS official online store;
- IQOS LINE official account;
- IQOS flagship stores;
- Official stores on Rakuten and Yahoo Japan;
- Selected retail partners.
From June 23, 2026, the IQOS ILUMA i REMIX and IQOS ILUMA i ONE REMIX models expanded into convenience stores and designated tobacco retailers across Japan.
The rollout strategy indicates that PM Japan positioned the REMIX series not only as a collector-oriented limited product, but also as a broader consumer engagement initiative supported by wider retail availability.
Limited Editions Strengthen IQOS Brand Experience
IQOS has repeatedly used limited-edition devices, exclusive colors and special collaborations as part of its product strategy.
Compared with traditional consumer electronics, where upgrades are often driven by hardware improvements, mature heated tobacco brands increasingly use design, aesthetics and emotional connection to maintain consumer engagement.
The IQOS ILUMA i REMIX Limited Edition follows this approach by keeping the core device platform unchanged while creating renewed consumer interest through visual design and limited availability.

Industry Perspective
As the heated tobacco market matures, competition is expanding beyond core technology innovation toward brand experience and consumer relationship management.
The IQOS ILUMA i REMIX Limited Edition does not introduce a new heating technology platform. Instead, it demonstrates how mature heated tobacco brands can extend product lifecycles through design refreshes, limited releases and cultural positioning.
For established smoke-free product brands, limited editions are becoming more than short-term sales initiatives. They serve as tools to maintain brand activity, strengthen user engagement and increase the cultural value of existing product ecosystems.
