Swedish-founded online nicotine pouch retailer GotPouches said on September 16 that it has completed the localization of its U.S. operations under UpNorth Retail LLC, with corporate operations in Franklin, Tennessee, domestic fulfillment from Nashville and customer support based in the United States.

GotPouches said it previously served U.S. customers through its international operations. As its U.S. business expanded, the company moved its U.S. business, inventory and fulfillment activities into a domestic operating structure under UpNorth Retail LLC. Tennessee now serves as the company's U.S. operational base.

The transition applies to GotPouches' U.S. operations. Company materials continue to describe GotPouches as founded in Stockholm and do not state that its global headquarters has moved from Sweden to the United States.

More Than 20 Brands, Operations Across Over 25 States

GotPouches operates as a multi-brand online nicotine pouch retailer rather than a nicotine pouch manufacturer.

The company says its catalog includes products from more than 20 nicotine pouch brands, including ZYN, VELO, ALP, On! and LUCY, across a range of flavors and nicotine strengths. Product availability is subject to applicable state requirements.

GotPouches says it currently serves more than 25 U.S. states and plans to continue expanding its product selection and geographic availability where sales and shipping are permitted. New states are continuing to open to its service, according to the company.

The retailer says its online service is available exclusively to adults aged 21 and older. Product availability and shipping eligibility vary by state, with customers subject to applicable age-verification requirements and restrictions.

Nicotine Pouches Approach 60% of U.S. Oral Tobacco Category

GotPouches' localization comes as nicotine pouches continue to increase their share of the U.S. oral tobacco market.

Altria reported that nicotine pouches represented 59.9% of the U.S. oral tobacco category in the second quarter of 2026, up 8.1 percentage points year over year and 1.8 percentage points sequentially. For the first half of 2026, nicotine pouches averaged 59.0% of the category, an increase of 8.6 percentage points from a year earlier.

Altria also estimated that total U.S. oral industry volume increased by approximately 6% during the first six months of 2026, primarily driven by growth in oral nicotine pouches and partially offset by declines in moist smokeless tobacco.

Philip Morris International reported that U.S. ZYN shipments increased 1.8% year over year in the second quarter to 2.9 billion pouches. For the first six months of 2026, however, ZYN shipments totaled 5.2 billion pouches, down 11.2%, reflecting factors including distributor and trade inventory movements during the first quarter.

On August 21, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued marketing granted orders for 11 ZYN ULTRA nicotine pouch products manufactured by Swedish Match USA, including several 9mg products and one 11mg product. The FDA said the action brought the total number of authorized nicotine pouch products to 43.

GotPouches has not disclosed the investment associated with the U.S. transition, the size of its Nashville warehouse, employee numbers or financial data for its U.S. operations.

Couche-Tard Posts Double-Digit U.S. Same-Store Growth in Other Nicotine Products, Led by Pouches
Alimentation Couche-Tard said U.S. same-store sales in its “other nicotine products” category grew at a double-digit rate in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, led by nicotine pouches, while overall U.S. same-store merchandise revenues increased 1.7%. The company also said its Canadian nicotine business continued to face regulatory pressure and illicit-market headwinds. The U.S. performance coincides with Couche-Tard's participation in efforts to reopen Canadian convenience-store access to authorized nicotine pouches, though the company has not established a direct causal link between the two.

Australia’s One Nation Proposes 75% Tobacco Tax Cut, Says Lower Prices Could Hit Illicit Market
Australia’s One Nation party has proposed cutting tobacco excise by 75%, arguing that lower legal cigarette prices could narrow the gap with illicit tobacco and reduce demand for black-market products. The proposal comes as Australia continues expanding enforcement against illicit tobacco supply chains through border controls, retail inspections and organised-crime investigations. Supporters argue high taxes have contributed to illicit-market growth, while opponents warn that lower tobacco prices could undermine public-health goals. The proposal is a party policy position and has not been adopted by the Australian government.
