On April 9th, according to the Health Department of Kaohsiung City in Taiwan, China since the e-cigarette ban was implemented on March 22nd, 15 out of the 44 e-cigarette shops in Kaohsiung City have already closed down.
According to Central News Agency (CNA) report, among the 44 shops in the city, 10 of them have completely shut down while 15 have closed their doors. The remaining shops have shifted to selling other products as their owners indicated that the penalties for violation are too high to take the risk.
The maximum forfeit for vaping in Taiwan is NTD 2,258 (approximately USD 51)
According to the new regulations, manufacturing or importing e-cigarettes can result in a maximum fine of NTD 50 million (approximately CNY 11.29 million). Advertising agencies, media, and advertisers found to be advertising unauthorized tobacco products can receive a maximum fine of NTD 2 million (approximately CNY 0.45 million).
Selling or displaying unauthorized tobacco products can result in a maximum fine of NTD 1 million (approximately RMB 0.22 million). Those who supply new tobacco products and their equipment can be fined from NTD 10,000 to NTD 250,000 (approximately CNY 2,258 to RMB 56,450), while vapers can be fined from NTD 2,000 to NTD 10,000 (approximately CNY 0.45 to CNY 2.25 thousand).
