Bogota Legislator Proposes Ban on Selling E-Cigarettes to Minors
Colombian politician proposes banning e-cigarettes sales to minors in Bogota to protect public health and youth welfare.

According to a report from Colombian media outlet Semana on October 18th, Colombian Bogota legislator Juan Felipe Grillo has proposed banning the sale of e-cigarettes to minors in commercial establishments and online platforms as a way to address this issue in the city.

The strategies to address this issue primarily involve a proposal put forward by Grillo in Bogota. He suggests amending the city's police regulations to prohibit the sale, display, purchase, use, and consumption of e-cigarettes to minors in commercial establishments and digital platforms.

"This will contribute to the city's efforts to improve the well-being of minors and counter factors that affect the city and the health of the new generation of the public," stated Councilmember Boggota.

Grello's plan specifically proposes a ban on the sale, distribution, and provision of e-cigarettes or e-cigarette devices to minors. Individuals purchasing such devices will be required to present proof of age, similarly to the sale of tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceuticals. Failure to comply could result in corrective measures as stipulated by the Boggota Police regulations for those who violate this provision.
