Brazilian City of Manaús Implements Comprehensive Smoking Ban
Brazil's Manaus city has imposed a complete ban on smoking in public or private collective places, including e-cigarettes.

The city of Manaus in Brazil has implemented a comprehensive ban on the use of all types of smoking products, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and e-cigarettes in both public and private collective spaces. The new regulations equate electronic devices with tobacco products, imposing stricter control measures on tobacco and its derivatives.

Previously, lawmaker Gilmar Nascimento proposed a bill to amend Law No. 1,364, which seeks to prohibit the consumption of cigarettes, small cigars, cigars, and e-cigarettes in shared environments, while also outlining additional measures.

The law was published in the Municipal Government Gazette (DOM) on October 20th and has been in effect since then.

The municipal government further stipulates in the regulation that the designated locations must prominently display the prohibition notice, indicating the contact information and address of the municipal institution responsible for health monitoring and consumer protection.
