A spokesperson for Morrisons told the UK's Independent Television (ITV): "The cessation of sales of the entire ELFBAR 600 range is part of our investigation in partnership with Trading Standards. The products will only be put back on the shelves after it has been confirmed that they are fully compliant with the relevant UK legislation".

A spokesperson for Sainsbury's followed suit, saying, "We are in close contact with our suppliers and have temporarily removed the affected ELFBAR products while they investigate further.

In addition, the Asda supermarket chain said it is working with its suppliers to investigate the matter and has not yet disclosed whether it has removed ELFBAR products from its shelves.

Retail outlet Betterretailing revealed a letter of apology sent by ELFBAR to the Daily Mail, stating that the situation was due to a "manufacturing incident".

In its apology letter to the Mail, it said, "We would like to reassure you that we are working 24/7 with all of our supply chain partners to replace all stock to ensure 100% that no products in the UK contain 3ml capacity vapes. New 2ml capacity batches will arrive in the UK within 30 days."

2FIRSTS tried to arrange an exclusive to serve as an outlet for Elfbar, but the disposable heavyweight refused to make any comments.
