On January 9th, the European Union's transitional period for sanctions against certain consumer goods originating from the Russian Federation will end, prohibiting the import of these commodities into the EU from Monday onward, according to a statement from the Estonian Tax and Customs Board seen by Interfax.
Starting from January 9, the transitional period for the supply contracts of sanctioned goods signed before October 7 will also come to an end. Effective Monday, it will be prohibited to bring certain consumer goods from Russia, such as cosmetics, detergents, and cleaning products, as well as personal and corporate clothing and footwear.
The committee stated that any prohibited items must be returned or abandoned by travelers at the border, otherwise they will be confiscated.
Especially prohibited items include cigars, cigarillos, cigarettes; steel products; cosmetics and hair products (such as shampoo) for hair care; oral care products (such as toothpaste and dental floss); shaving products, including pre and post-shave products; detergents and cleaning agents (such as soap); various plastic products, such as packaging materials, pipes, hoses, flexible tubes, and construction materials; various paper products; women's or girl's clothing; footwear; tools and other articles.
