Recently, the Busan Customs in South Korea have successively apprehended foreign laborers involved in drug smuggling. Two foreign workers, including individual A, are suspected of smuggling a total of 1950 milliliters of synthetic cannabis hidden in biscuits. This illegal operation took place from October to November last year and was conducted in five separate shipments through international mail.

Foreign worker B is alleged to have sneakily hidden 100 MDMA pills in their hair wrapped in a fast cargo consignment when entering Incheon Airport in July this year.

The synthetic marijuana and MDMA that have recently been uncovered are new types of drugs frequently exposed in Southeast Asia and domestic entertainment venues, used for hallucinogenic parties.
Synthetic marijuana is a synthetic chemical substance that produces effects similar to the hallucinogenic component THC found in cannabis. It has been commodified as an e-cigarette solution, making it easily accessible for smoking with the help of a device.
The Busan Customs Office has pointed out that the recent increase in the importation of new types of drugs in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions is mainly due to the increase in foreign laborers from small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises and seasonal agricultural workers from overseas. Furthermore, there has been an increase in entertainment establishments such as karaoke rooms that mainly cater to customers from specific countries.
