German Customs: 300L Juice Seized, €46,000 Tax Evaded at Hall of Vape
During Stuttgart's "The Hall of Vape" expo, featuring e-cigarettes and smoking accessories, customs officers seized nearly 300 liters of untaxed tobacco substitutes last weekend. Officers scrutinized 15 exhibition stands on Saturday and Sunday, identifying irregularities with 11 vendors.
Around €46,000 in tobacco taxes was evaded by these commercial transporters of taxable products. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those responsible at eight stands, with a total of approximately €36,000 collected as security for expected fines. Six individuals working at the expo stands were handed over to the state police on suspicion of illegal residence.
In the days leading up to the expo, customs also discovered untaxed tobacco products and substitutes in shops in Esslingen, Filderstadt, Weinstadt, and Backnang. Around 10 liters of liquids, 35 kilograms of vapor stones and smoke cotton, and 174 cigars were all offered for sale without tax stamps. The determined tax damage in these cases amounts to a total of about €2,200.
