Iloilo, Phillipines: Regulation Intensified
Arrests for cigarette and e-cigarette violations in Iloilo City, Philippines, have increased significantly this year, with the Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (ICAST) punishing 4.4 times more people for e-cigarette violations this year than last year and nearly doubling the number of people punished for traditional cigarettes.
For e-cigarette violators, from May to October this year, PNP and ICAST officers arrested and issued tickets to 433 violators, compared to 98 violators during the same period last year.
For traditional cigarette violators, there were 5,258 violators from May to October this year, compared to 3,933 violators during the same period last year.
Individuals caught violating the city's no-smoking/vaping ordinance will be fined Php1,500 for a first offense, Php2,000 for a second offense, and US$5,000 for a third and subsequent offenses.
