
According to a report by Times Indonesia on November 7th, the Investment and Integrated Services Agency as well as the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration in the Bondowoso region of Indonesia have submitted the data for 6,515 workers employed in tobacco/cigarette factories as candidates for the 2023 tobacco tax revenue cash assistance program (BLT DBHCHT).
The data has increased by nearly 30% compared to 2022, with a total of 4,620 workers that year. Workers from 50 cigarette factories or tobacco warehouses are eligible to apply, and it is expected that the budget for this assistance will reach 1.87 billion rupees.
According to the regulation number 215/PMK.07/2021 by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, a portion of the DBHCHT budget will be allocated towards social and environmental development, including social assistance and job skills training. All tobacco farmers, tobacco factory workers, and other members of the community are eligible to apply for these benefits.
Nunung Setianingsih, the head of DPMPTSP and Naker, stated that they have already submitted the necessary data and will continue to monitor and provide a list of workers.
