Observation | Ultrasonic Microporous Atomization in the Spotlight: A Look at Technical Differences and Market Applications
At the e-cigarette supply chain expo in Shenzhen on August 26, 2Firsts visited the exhibition and researched the latest industry trends.

Key Points:

Technological Differences and Innovation: There are significant differences between ultrasonic micropore atomization technology and traditional e-cigarette heating atomization technology in core principles, atomization mechanisms, particle size, and applicable media.

Heating + micropore combination atomization: The innovative application of this technology in the e-cigarette field combines ultrasonic micropore atomization with heating technology, forming a "heating + micropore" combination atomization, aiming to provide different taste experiences and flavor compensation.

Market Landing Case: LOST MARY launches ULTRASONIC 35K, equipped with ultrasonic atomization and supports adjustment of flavor concentration and acidity, priced at $16.99, already on the distribution platform in the US market.

From August 26 to 29, the 6th Vape Industry Chain Exhibition was held in Shenzhen, where 2Firsts visited the venue and conducted research on the latest trends in the e-cigarette supply chain, it was observed that "ultrasonic micro-hole atomization" became a hot topic of discussion at the exhibition. This technology, with its core principles of piezoelectric vibration and micro-hole shearing, stands in sharp contrast to the mainstream "heating atomization" used in e-cigarettes, attracting attention from industry professionals.

Technological differences: ultrasonic vs. heat atomization

At the exhibition, 2Firsts found that there are significant differences in both principle and performance between the two atomization methods.

Core principle: Ultrasonic micro-pore atomization relies on piezoelectric vibration and micro-pore shearing to achieve liquid atomization, while heating atomization relies on porous ceramic oil guides and high-temperature vaporization using resistance wires.

Mechanism of atomization: Ultrasonic micro-hole atomization belongs to low-temperature physical atomization, which does not involve heating; while e-cigarettes require heating atomization to be achieved at high temperatures of 150–250°C.

Aerosol Particles: The particles produced by ultrasound micro-hole atomization are larger (3-7 micrometers), while the aerosol particles produced by e-cigarette heating atomization are smaller (0.2-1 micrometers).

Applicable media: Ultrasonic micro-hole atomization is suitable for low viscosity liquids such as water-based or medicinal liquids, while e-cigarette heating atomization is suitable for medium viscosity glycerin/propylene glycol-based e-liquid.

These differences determine the distinct performances of the two techniques in terms of taste, throat hit, and flavor presentation.

Innovative application: "heating + micropore" combination atomization

Although ultrasonic atomization has long been used in areas such as humidifiers, medical nebulizers, and personal care products, its latest application in e-cigarettes is the "heating + micropore" combination atomization. By combining these two technologies, manufacturers hope to open up new possibilities in terms of taste experience and aroma compensation.

Market Update: LOST MARY ULTRASONIC 35K

It is worth noting that LOST MARY has been the first to introduce this technology to the market. Their new product, LOST MARY ULTRASONIC 35K, is equipped with ultrasonic atomization components and features an independent symbol labeled "ultrasonic atomization" on the front of the product. The product also comes with a rotating component that allows users to adjust the flavor concentration and acidity, providing a personalized experience for the users.
