Joint Operation Successfully Busts Illegal E-Cigarette Production Network

A smuggling operation involving illegal e-cigarettes was busted by authorities in Nanning, Guangxi, leading to multiple arrests.

According to a report from China News Service in Guangxi, on August 3, 2024, the Nanning Tobacco Monopoly Bureau uncovered a truck transporting illegal e-cigarettes during a routine inspection. Four suspects were apprehended, and through mobile phone clues, the source of the goods was traced to Shenzhen. The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Tobacco Monopoly implemented a third-level linkage and close cooperation between multiple departments and police units, quickly forming a special task force. After more than four months of investigation, the task force discovered that the criminal network had two illegal e-cigarette production bases in Dongguan, involving production, sales, transportation, and storage.

On December 3, 2024, a task force carried out a crackdown operation, dismantling 2 processing and storage dens, seizing 127,202 e-cigarette pods, 307.85 kilograms of e-liquid, and multiple tools used in the crime. 10 suspects were arrested, with the total amount involved exceeding 30 million yuan.

As of January 2025, seven individuals have been arrested. This is the first successful cross-provincial joint operation by the Nanning Municipal Bureau to crack down on the entire chain of illegal e-cigarette-related crimes.
