Large-Scale Seizure of Counterfeit Cigarettes by Russian Customs

The news department of Smolensk Customs reported that a car containing a large amount of counterfeit Belarusian cigarettes has been detained.

During inspection, 105,000 packs of cigarettes from two Belarusian brands were found inside a shipment of cardboard boxes, but they did not have the required Russian excise tax stamps. The estimated cost of the smuggled tobacco products exceeds 6 million rubles, according to Ilya Zalmenzon, Acting Head of the Department of Customs Control, Export and Transportation of Goods at Smolensk Customs, in a statement.
