According to ODT reports, two cars in the city of Dunedin, New Zealand, were suspected of colliding with a police car and were later found near a Vapourium e-cigarette store. The store was broken into during the incident.
At 2 a.m., the police received a report and proceeded to Glendevon Place in Vauxhall, where they discovered a stolen vehicle that had been missing since Sunday evening.
Senior police officer Anthony Bond said that as the police were waiting for the tow truck to arrive, a second vehicle stopped in front of the property. The vehicle was a stolen Nissan Qida, with two individuals inside.
One of the passengers got off the Qida vehicle and approached another car, but upon noticing the presence of the police at the scene, they promptly returned to the vehicle.
Bond Sergeant stated that the police attempted to prevent the Qida car from escaping, but it collided with the police car, resulting in the immobilization of the police vehicle.
During the police search of the area, they discovered a Toyota Corolla and a Nissan Qashqai traveling together.
The police attempted to intercept the Corolla as it appeared to be racing with a Quidda, but failed to come to a halt and instead accelerated along Prince Albert Road.
Bond Senior Sergeant said, "We believe that, up until now, based on historical evidence, we have been able to hold these individuals accountable."
