New Zealand's New Prime Minister Cancels Smoking Ban Law

New Zealand's new Prime Minister Christopher Luxon cancels nation's groundbreaking smoking ban to provide tax relief funding.

According to the Daily Mail, New Zealand's newly appointed Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has scrapped the country's groundbreaking ban on smoking in order to generate revenue through tax breaks.

This bill was proposed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, aiming to impose a ban on tobacco sales for children born after 2008, with the goal of achieving a smoke-free nation by 2025.

However, Luxon believes that this blanket ban law would create opportunities for the black market, which is essentially untaxed. Luxon, who was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of New Zealand on Monday, stated that his primary task is to improve the economy.
