SAROV, Russia, Aug 22 – RIA Novosti reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has endorsed the idea of empowering regional governments to fully ban vapes.
The proposal was raised by Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin during a meeting with Putin in Sarov on Friday. Nikitin highlighted the rapid spread of vaping among Russian children and suggested delegating authority to regions to enact a complete ban. He stressed that Nizhny Novgorod is ready to serve as a pilot region, implementing a ban across retail, wholesale, and distribution channels.
Putin welcomed the proposal, responding: “Consider me already in agreement. A good proposal.”
