Russian President Putin: Supports Proposal for Regional Governments to Fully Ban Vapes
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed support for granting regional governments the authority to impose a full ban on vapes. The proposal came from Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin, who suggested launching a pilot project in his region to curb the spread of e-cigarettes among children.

SAROV, Russia, Aug 22 – RIA Novosti reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has endorsed the idea of empowering regional governments to fully ban vapes.

 

The proposal was raised by Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin during a meeting with Putin in Sarov on Friday. Nikitin highlighted the rapid spread of vaping among Russian children and suggested delegating authority to regions to enact a complete ban. He stressed that Nizhny Novgorod is ready to serve as a pilot region, implementing a ban across retail, wholesale, and distribution channels.

 

Putin welcomed the proposal, responding: “Consider me already in agreement. A good proposal.”
