Thailand’s health minister rejects vaping as a smoking cessation alternative
Thailand’s Public Health Minister Phatthana Phromphat has reaffirmed that the government does not support cigarettes or e-cigarettes in any form and opposes the use of e-cigarettes as a substitute for smoking cessation.

2Firsts, December 17, 2025 – According to official information from Thailand, Public Health Minister Phatthana Phromphat chaired the 10th meeting of the Health Promotion Fund Committee on December 15 and reaffirmed the government’s position against cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

 

As First Vice Chairman of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Phatthana stated that the government does not support smoking or vaping in any form and does not agree with using e-cigarettes as an alternative to quitting smoking. 

 

He emphasized that the only solution is to reduce and ultimately quit smoking, calling on the foundation and its media partners to intensify communication on the dangers of vaping, particularly among young people.
