During this counseling session, the city of Shixing has been targeting subway station users in their efforts to promote smoke-free zones during off-hours. They have been informing individuals about the dangers of smoking and the severity of the indirect harm caused by secondhand smoke. In addition to regulating smoke-free areas, they are also guiding smokers towards registering at smoking cessation clinics.

City Councilor Wu Renlie, who participated in the discussion, emphasized the importance of recognizing the harm caused by secondhand smoke to non-smokers and the severity of smokers discarding cigarette butts. He called for collaboration with relevant authorities to conduct ongoing research and develop appropriate countermeasures.

In order to ensure the right to health, the citizens of Shixing City have implemented a concentrated counseling, inspection, and control plan targeting smoking behavior in the designated areas during the last week of each month until December. Particularly, there has been a focus on cracking down on the use of cigarette-shaped e-cigarettes and liquid e-cigarettes in the no-smoking zones, which has seen a recent increase.
