2Firsts, September 9th - according to interfax reported in September 8th, Ukraine’s State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection received more than 200 complaints about breaches of anti-tobacco laws between January and June 2025. These led to 113 inspections, with violations found in 82% of cases. Fines totaling UAH 2.4 million (about $60,000) were issued, of which UAH 1.5 million (about $37,000) has been paid voluntarily and UAH 64,000 (about $1,600) collected through enforcement.
Common violations included smoking or using hookahs in banned areas, missing no-smoking signs, and advertising tobacco products. Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions recorded the highest number of offences.
The service reiterated that Ukraine fully prohibits tobacco advertising to protect public health—especially that of children and youth—and reduce the harmful effects of tobacco.
