Ukraine to Raise Tobacco Price by 33%

"Considering the 31% inflation rate in Ukraine in 2022 as a result of the all-out war, it is better to raise the excise tax on tobacco products to the inflation level at once. According to the current plan of excise tax increase, the so-called 7-year plan, the excise tax on tobacco products will increase by 20% per year. Our idea is to raise the total excise tax to the inflation rate in 2023, i.e. the planned 20% plus 10% or 11% to achieve this inflation rate," Kupira said.

Ukrainian public organizations propose to raise excise taxes on tobacco products to the level of inflation caused by the war, i.e. 33%.
