Arrests Made in Unlawful Sale of Marijuana Products to Minors
Two arrested for selling marijuana products, vapes, and e-cigarettes to minors at smoke shops in Selden, Suffolk County.

Two people have been arrested on charges of unlawfully selling marijuana products, vapes, and e-cigarettes to minors at smoke shops in Selden, Suffolk County. The individuals arrested include a 62-year-old from Ronkonkoma who was employed by Smoke Shop, and a 22-year-old from Mount Sinai who was employed by Selden Smoke Shop, according to the Suffolk police.

During the arrests, law enforcement officers seized over 1,200 flavored vape products from Smoke Shop, as well as more than 1,800 flavored vape products and over 700 cannabis products from Selden Smoke Shop. In addition to the misdemeanor charge of unlawfully dealing with a child, the 22-year-old from Mount Sinai was also charged with third-degree criminal sale of cannabis, also a misdemeanor.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by officers from the 6th Precinct Crime Section and members of the county's Department of Health's Tobacco Enforcement. The investigation was initiated after receiving complaints from the community. Two other businesses in Selden were found to be in compliance with the law.

Both individuals were released on desk appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

This incident highlights the importance of preventing the sale of marijuana products, vapes, and e-cigarettes to minors. The sale of such products to underage individuals is illegal and can have serious health implications.

Law enforcement agencies and health departments are working together to ensure compliance with the law and protect the well-being of the community. If you have any information regarding similar illegal activities, please report them to the local authorities.
