Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that these 179 mislabeled crates were shipped from China to Mississippi, with a retail value exceeding $1.08 million. The crates were labeled as "electronic vaporizers," a common method used to smuggle unauthorized goods into the United States.

The director of the Chicago Business Bureau, LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, stated that

Our officials are committed to identifying and intercepting goods that may pose potential harm to the health and well-being of individuals within our community.

According to Alibaba Cloud Trademark and Tianyancha, the applicant of the tobacco and smoking products trademark for IPLAY in Class 34 is Cool Play Era (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd., which was established in 2019 and is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. The 2FIRSTS Certification Enterprise Inquiry System shows that the company is a domestically certified brand enterprise mainly engaged in export business.

Yinghe-Controlled Vape Maker SKE Ordered to Post £569,039 Security as It Pursues Crystal Bar Design Infringement Case in UK
The UK High Court has ordered Chinese vape manufacturer Shenzhen SKE Technology to provide £569,039 ($776,000) in security for costs in its design infringement proceedings against Vapepen London and other defendants over its Crystal Bar vape product. The court did not accept the defendants’ main argument that recovering costs from a China-based company would face significant enforcement obstacles, but found that SKE had not sufficiently disclosed its own financial position. The order is procedural and does not determine the underlying infringement claims.

Ohio Supreme Court Weighs Whether State Consumer Law Can Restrict Flavored Vape Sales
The Ohio Supreme Court is hearing a case involving flavored vape sales and whether state authorities can use consumer protection laws to take action against retailers selling unauthorized vape products. Ohio officials argue that selling unauthorized flavored vapes may constitute consumer deception, while retailers argue that tobacco product regulation falls under federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authority and that states cannot impose additional restrictions through consumer laws. The case could affect the scope of state-level vape regulation across the United States.

U.S. House Defense Bill Includes Pilot Review of Vapes, Nicotine Pouches and Heated Tobacco for Military Smokers
On July 23, 2026, the U.S. House of Representatives passed its version of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes Section 707 provisions requiring the Department of Defense to evaluate tobacco use and nicotine alternatives among military personnel. The pilot program would examine products including vapes, nicotine pouches and heated tobacco products, primarily among active-duty service members who continue using combustible tobacco. The provision is a policy evaluation effort, not an authorization for military vaping promotion or a ban on vape products.
