On September 20, 2023, the "Golden Leaf Awards" ceremony took place at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. Six companies and organizations from the tobacco industry were presented with trophies, including both e-cigarette companies and tobacco industry NGOs. The Golden Leaf Awards, which first took place in 2006, had its inaugural ceremony held in Indonesia. This year, six companies or organizations, namely Vaporesso (Smoore), Innokin, ICCPP, ANDS, Alliance One India Industries (AOII), and The Center for Agricultural Transformation (CAT), have been awarded the Golden Leaf Awards for 2023.
The organizers of the Golden Leaf Awards have announced the reasons for the winners.
Vaporesso (subsidiary of Smoore)
Vaporesso, the open-system division under Smoore International, is the largest vaporization company in the world. Its Vaporesso COSS technology has received recognition and awards. COSS stands for "Convenient Operation, Smart Supply." This system addresses long-standing pain points in the existing market and has an intuitive design that caters to the habits of traditional smokers.
Innokin
Innokin has been awarded for developing a ceramic material that eliminates metals in e-cigarette coils. The company has created a new type of coil that uses a conductive ceramic as the heating element. Typically, conductive ceramics are infused with metals capable of withstanding high temperatures to increase conductivity. However, the resistance of such ceramics cannot be controlled. Innokin has successfully combined non-metallic substances with ceramics to achieve excellent conductivity, consistent resistance, and lower power consumption. The conductive ceramic coils offer stability and corrosion resistance. They heat up quickly and evenly, resulting in a purer flavor.
ICCPP Group
ICCPP Group has been recognized for its commitment to providing cutting-edge technology. Year after year, the company dedicated 10% of its profits to the research and development of electronic vaporization, leading to significant advancements in both structure and technology such as the Gene Tree ceramic core and Gen Chip, innovations that have revolutionized the smoking experience. Focused on meeting the diverse needs of various markets and users, ICCPP Group has successfully introduced a wide range of e-cigarette products, including Drag, Vinci, and Cyclo.
ANDS
ANDS's Slix product, a disposable e-cigarette, has won an award. According to a test conducted by Waste Experts, a UK-based professional waste management service company, using the ISO 14021:2016 standard, Slix has a recycling rate of up to 99.29%. Its casing is made of 100% recyclable premium cardboard and is equipped with biodegradable silicone mouthpieces and filters. Compared to similar products, Slix has reduced the number of components by 36%, resulting in a 70% reduction in waste by weight and a 38% decrease in landfill volume. Additionally, it has reduced recycling processing time by 57%.
Alliance One India Industries (AOII)
With operations across the country, AOII has established itself as a prominent player in industries such as technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and real estate. The company's unwavering commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction has enabled it to attain a competitive edge in the market. AOII's impressive track record and remarkable growth trajectory have earned it a reputation as a reliable and reputable business entity in India.
Alliance One India Industries (AOII) has been recognized for its Women Empowerment Program in India. Women, especially those in rural areas, have long been disadvantaged in society. AOII is dedicated to empowering women by providing them with training and resources to enhance economic vitality and professional development. So far, 186 women have benefited from the program, including 171 contracted farming families. Female participants have shared that the program has "helped" their families "create new standards of living" and awakened their awareness of their rights to "control both their household and outside lives".
The Center for Agricultural Transformation (CAT)
The Center for Agricultural Transformation (CAT) has been awarded for its work in helping Malawi achieve economic diversification. With funding from the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World, CAT enhances agricultural productivity through science, technology, and innovation, while assisting innovators in transforming their ideas into sustainable agricultural enterprises and creating new markets for alternative products from small farming. At a demonstration farm near Lilongwe, the organization provides a platform for private sector partners to showcase their technologies and help farmers optimize their operations.
