Cigar Sense Inc. Announces Research in Cigars to Connect Consumer Expectations, Experiences, and Authentic Brand Storytelling
Independent research initiative highlights consumer truth as the new driver of loyalty and meaningful differentiation.

Carson City (NV), United States, September 19, 2025 – Scientific evidence across food, wine, and luxury sectors consistently shows that expectations shape experiences as much as product quality itself, but when promises don’t match reality, satisfaction collapses.

Cigar lovers are often influenced about what they should expect from a cigar.  But rarely are they invited to compare those expectations with their own truth and turn the findings into insights.

Cigar Sense Inc. has launched a new study to do just that. Participants begin by sharing what they expect before lighting up, continue with their actual perceptions during smoking, and finish by describing the cigar in their own words, moods, and metaphors.

“This isn’t just another survey,” says Franca Comparetto – co-founder of Cigar Sense - “If a cigar is more than combustion, construction, tobacco, tradition and relationships, if it is also subjective perception and imagination, then let’s honor that and the people who give meaning to the industry: the cigar smokers. This study gives clarity on how effective the cigar story is, and flips the script when smokers don’t trust it.”

For cigar lovers, the reward is self-discovery: learning how expectations shape enjoyment and seeing where hype and reality diverge. For companies, the reward is actionable insights and inspiration to communicate cigars with authenticity, nurturing trust beyond scarcity or luxury clichés.

The study integrates objective (trained panel), hedonic (liking), emotional, evocative (images), and metaphorical (analogies) data around a simple principle: less disappointment and more pleasure for cigar lovers means more trust in cigar companies.
