On September 4th, a team from the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command seized a large quantity of smuggled cigarettes and e-cigarettes during an operation and detained a suspect. A search of the suspect's vehicle revealed 137 e-cigarettes, 530 packs of smuggled cigarettes, and 41 boxes of nicotine gum. The vehicle was towed to a trustee's parking lot, and the suspect has been charged with violating Law No. 5607 on Combating Smuggling.

At the InterTabac opening press conference, German tobacco industry leaders criticized the EU’s proposed tax reform, warning that steep hikes could devastate the nicotine pouch sector, reduce excise revenue, and fuel illicit trade. They called on German policymakers to oppose the changes at the European level.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo submitted a proposal to reform the General Health Law to the President of the House of Representatives, Kenia López Rabadán. The core content of the proposal is to ban e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and similar devices to protect public health. In early 2025, a congressional standing committee confirmed the constitutional validity of the health reform.

The U.S. has tightened vaping regulations nationwide. The DOJ, FDA, CBP and DEA seized millions of illegal devices in the largest-ever enforcement action. Several states introduced new laws with registries, packaging limits, and criminal penalties, signaling a shift toward institutionalized regulation and higher compliance costs.

Since September, the global e-cigarette market has shown several key trends. Traditional tobacco companies like Philip Morris International and Japan Tobacco have been launching new products. E-cigarette brands such as Lost Mary and ElfBar are responding to tightening regulations by introducing new products with enhanced features to find new market avenues. Meanwhile, regulatory data from the UK indicates that the industry is accelerating its shift towards reusable products.

Greater Manchester Police and Trading Standards raided two shops in Leigh, seizing £10,000 worth of illegal goods — mainly counterfeit Labubu toys, cigarettes, and e-cigarettes. The operation, under the "Safe4Summer" initiative, targets products that risk public health and safety. One suspect attempted to flee but was caught. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have urged the public to share any relevant information.
