According to official records from Paraguay Customs, a total of 1,572,959 e-cigarettes were imported into Paraguay from January 2022 to June 2023. These e-cigarettes had a taxable value of 30.5 billion Paraguayan guaranis, equivalent to approximately 30.58 million Chinese yuan.
According to data from the National Directorate of Customs of Paraguay (DNA), mainland China is the primary supplier of e-cigarettes to Paraguay, accounting for 97% of the total import volume of e-cigarettes in Paraguay.
The second largest supplier region is Hong Kong, which exported 39,979 e-cigarettes to Paraguay; the third largest supplier country is the United States, which exported 6,000 e-cigarettes to Paraguay.
According to reports, these products mostly contain 5% nicotine, which exceeds the approved limit of 2% set by the National Health Supervision Bureau (Dinavisa). However, despite surpassing the standard, these products are still being sold in various retail stores of different sizes in Paraguay.
