E-cigarette Store in Massachusetts Robbed, Teenagers Suspected
A vape shop in Framingham, Massachusetts was robbed by five individuals who smashed the windows and stole e-cigarette products.

According to NECN's report on December 26th, an e-cigarette store in Framingham, Massachusetts, was targeted by thieves.

 

In the surveillance footage, it can be seen that five individuals used stones to smash the glass windows of the Vape and Smoke store on Worcester Road in Birmingham. They subsequently entered the store and stole e-cigarette products within a mere minute before fleeing.

 

The Birmingham City Police stated that they believed the suspects to be a group of teenagers. Law enforcement attempted to track them with the K9 unit, but were unsuccessful.

 

Although the exact value of the stolen items is still being determined, the estimated loss is around $1,000.

The UK High Court has ordered Chinese vape manufacturer Shenzhen SKE Technology to provide £569,039 ($776,000) in security for costs in its design infringement proceedings against Vapepen London and other defendants over its Crystal Bar vape product. The court did not accept the defendants’ main argument that recovering costs from a China-based company would face significant enforcement obstacles, but found that SKE had not sufficiently disclosed its own financial position. Hunan China Tobacco Industry files heated tobacco device patent featuring adult-user identification through pressure sensing
China-based Hunan China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Baisha Technology Co., Ltd. have filed a patent application covering an adult-user identification mechanism for heated tobacco devices. The patent proposes using flexible pressure sensors installed in the device grip area to collect pressure distribution patterns generated when users hold the device. The system evaluates factors including effective contact area, grip shape and contact duration, and combines roller movement detection to determine whether unlocking conditions are met. The filing reflects exploration of device-level user recognition and smarter interaction technologies for heated tobacco products (HTPs).

Philip Morris International’s global R&D chief Michele Cattoni met Liu Sanjiang, deputy director of China’s State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, in Beijing on Aug. 27. The meeting comes as China advances mandatory standards for heated cigarettes and nicotine pouches, laying groundwork for their domestic introduction.
