ELFBAR, LOST MARY Launch Reusable E-Cigarettes in Response to UK Disposable Ban
Two e-cigarette brands in response to the upcoming ban on disposable e-cigarettes in the UK launch reusable versions.

According to a report from BBC on April 21st, e-cigarette brands Elfbar and Lost Mary have introduced reusable disposable e-cigarettes to address the upcoming ban on disposable e-cigarettes in the UK. Elfbar stated that they are "meeting demand" by providing a tool to help smokers quit smoking.

The Green Fun Alliance is one of the main distributors for Elfbar and Lost Mary in the UK, with these two products collectively holding nearly half of the market share in the country. The alliance's latest financial report shows that as disposable e-cigarettes become more popular, their sales have surged, doubling in the year leading up to January 31, 2023, reaching £1.173 billion.

The UK government plans to ban disposable e-cigarettes starting from April next year. The Green Entertainment Alliance has stated that the ban will have a negative impact on sales and profits. However, they also mentioned that their management has been preparing for this and are ready to adjust their business to focus on selling non-disposable e-cigarettes and related products.

In response to the ban on disposable e-cigarettes, Elfbar and Lost Mary have introduced reusable versions of disposable e-cigarettes in the past 12 months. The main difference is that the e-liquid containing nicotine is stored in replaceable pods, and the bottom USB port can be used for charging, allowing the e-cigarette body to be reused.

A spokesperson for Elfbar stated, "We are continuously diversifying our product line by providing viable alternatives to disposable devices to meet the market demand for tools that help millions of adults quit smoking and reduce harm."

However, some critics claim that these e-cigarettes will not achieve the environmental goals of the ban. Local councils also warn the British government not to allow manufacturers to exploit "loopholes" in the ban.

In addition to this, Elfbar's biggest competitor, SKE, has also launched a similar reusable version of their product called Crystal Bar.

U.S. ITC Reopens PAX Labs Case Against STIIIZY, ALD; Domestic Industry Status at Center of Dispute
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has announced a partial review of a key ruling in PAX Labs' patent infringement case against STIIIZY and ALD, focusing on whether the economic prong of the "domestic industry" requirement was properly assessed. While the commission previously found some of PAX's patents valid and infringed, it ruled that PAX had not demonstrated sufficient U.S. economic investment to establish a domestic industry, and therefore did not find a violation.
