Illegal E-cigarette and Nicotine Pouches Seized in Sydney West
Australian TGA seizes over $230,000 worth of illegal e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches in Sydney, violating therapeutic goods laws.

According to a report by Pharmacy Daily on March 27th, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) seized over 5,000 e-cigarettes and 7,000 nicotine pouches in the Penrith area of western Sydney. The black market value of the seized items is estimated to be over $360,000 ($230,000 USD).

 

The TGA has accused these products of being held or supplied illegally, in violation of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

 

Currently, therapeutic e-cigarettes can only be sold in participating pharmacies for smoking cessation and nicotine dependence management, while nicotine pouches are classified as strictly controlled prescription drugs.
