Indian High Court Rejects Lawyer’s Petition Against Disturbing Anti-Tobacco Advertisements
Delhi High Court expresses displeasure at lawyer's public interest litigation seeking ban on graphic anti-tobacco ads in cinemas and OTT platforms.

According to Indian media outlet Liv

Previously, a judge had dismissed this public lawsuit, stating it as a "gross abuse of legal procedure." The lawyer, frustrated by this decision, is now taking the case to both courts.

The court then requested the lawyer to submit a sworn declaration of remorse within two days, after which it will revoke the decision made by the sole judge. "He (the lawyer) is required to submit a declaration of remorse, and only then will we overturn the observation result. In this matter, remorse is absolutely necessary.

The Indian government is attempting a reform, and you, as a lawyer, are demanding that this action be stopped, acting as a tool of public prosecution." The bench's wording is sharp and pointed. The bench also communicated with the lawyer, who personally appeared with a senior lawyer, informing him of the need to correct his behavior. This case will be re-examined on December 7th.
