KINTEX Takes Measures Over Regulatory Concerns of Korea Vape Show 2023
KINTEX will rigorously review and manage the "Korea Vape Show 2023" to address concerns of negative influence.

On July 13th, according to South Korean media Modern Daily, the venue management of Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) announced that they will closely collaborate with relevant departments and institutions to conduct a thorough examination and management of the "Korea Vape Show 2023". This measure aims to address concerns raised regarding the potential negative effects of the event.

Earlier, the South Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare stated that the hosting of this event may violate the National Health Promotion Act. In response to this, KINTEX stated that thorough on-site inspections will be conducted during the event to ensure that it does not violate public health and sentiment. According to the exhibition organizer, it was originally scheduled to take place at KINTEX for three days starting from July 21st.

KINTEX has taken the concerns raised internally and externally seriously and had requested the organizer to withdraw the event. However, since there is no illegal activity involved, the organizer cannot be forced to cancel the event. Information obtained from searching KINTEX's public exhibition schedule, the "Korea Vape Show 2023" does not appear in the information provided by the venue. Instead, in its place is the "Campingfesta SS Season 2023."

It is worth noting that "campingfesta SS season 2023" not only coincides with the timing of "Korea e-cigarette Expo 2023," but also shares the exact same venue, which is Hall 7.

KINTEX plans to conduct thorough on-site inspections during the event by KINTEX staff and relevant institutions, such as local health centers, to prevent any issues.

Firstly, to prevent adolescents from purchasing vapes on-site, a double-check of identification documents will be carried out at ticket booths and exhibition hall entrances for all visitors, ensuring minors are not allowed entry. It will also be prohibited for exhibitors to set up smoking rooms or vape usage activities at their indoor booths. Any exhibitor who fails to comply with the inspection team's guidance will have their booth immediately removed. Additionally, a dedicated area promoting the government's anti-smoking policies will be set up at the event venue to raise awareness among smoking attendees.

KINTEX CEO Lee Jae-yul stated that in the future, the company will thoroughly review event content before renting exhibition halls, considering all factors, and conduct pre-inspections of activities that may cause issues through the KINTEX Exhibition Hall Guidance Committee.

Furthermore, KINTEX has established internal regulations that prohibit renting out its facilities for similar events starting next year.
