Kola Karim Appointed as Chairman of BAT Nigeria's Advisory Committee
Kola Karim, the current Agbaoye of Ibadan, will take over as the Chairman of BAT Nigeria's Advisory Council from November 1, 2023.

British American Tobacco Nigeria (BAT Nigeria) has announced that Kola Karim will assume the role of Chairman of its Advisory Committee starting from November 1, 2023. Currently, Karim serves as the Agbaoye of Ibadan land and holds a managerial position within the company.

Australia’s The Age has revealed that a local tobacco cartel is working with a crime syndicate to dominate the illicit vape trade. Singapore police said 13 people were charged on Oct 30 under the Organised Crime Act over an alleged syndicate supplying vapes locally; a 14th suspect is expected to be charged on Oct 31. All 14 had earlier been charged for possessing, or conspiring to possess, vapes for sale and are remanded. Police said the group allegedly imported vapes from Malaysia. OCA carries up to S$100,000 fine or five years’ jail; vape import/sale offences also face stiff penalties.
