Kola Karim Appointed as Chairman of BAT Nigeria's Advisory Committee
Kola Karim, the current Agbaoye of Ibadan, will take over as the Chairman of BAT Nigeria's Advisory Council from November 1, 2023.

British American Tobacco Nigeria (BAT Nigeria) has announced that Kola Karim will assume the role of Chairman of its Advisory Committee starting from November 1, 2023. Currently, Karim serves as the Agbaoye of Ibadan land and holds a managerial position within the company.

The UK Tobacco and Vapes Bill is set to return to the House of Lords on April 20 for consideration of Commons amendments in the parliamentary “ping pong” process. The bill aims to create the first “smoke-free generation” by ensuring that children turning 15 this year or younger can never legally be sold tobacco. It also seeks to enable product and information requirements to be imposed in connection with tobacco, vapes, and other products.

Canada’s federal health minister, Majorie Michel, said she is looking into legislation that would permanently ban the sale of tobacco products to anyone born after 2008. She said Canada has seen the approach recently proposed in the United Kingdom and is reviewing it with partners.
