Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, chairman of the Johor State Housing and Local Government Committee, said the decision taken seven years ago at the state executive council meeting is still in force, even though the Malaysian government has begun to levy an excise tax on nicotine (liquid and gel form) used in electronic cigarettes from April 1.

Since the ban on vaping was enforced, the state government has issued all local authorities (PBT) the ban on vaping products.

"We will wait for further instructions from the federal government. So far, we have not received any official instruction to ban the sale of vaping products, but at the state level, we are still using the 2016 policy," Mohd said.
