
Three men have been arrested by Malaysian authorities for attempting to smuggle tobacco products into the Machang prison using a drone.
Three individuals between the ages of 35 and 39 were arrested by the criminal investigation department of Ma'Chang district after receiving a report that a drone was flying over a large compound near the Jeram Kuning detention center in Kampung Pangkal Meleret on Jalan Kuing Indah at 1:05am.
According to Dato' Mohamad Zakariah Bin Ahmad, the Police Chief of Kelantan, Malaysia, the prison is equipped with tracking device technology that can detect unmanned aerial vehicles in the vicinity.
Before the three men fled in a Honda car, a police team was deployed to the location. According to media reports, Mohamad Zaki said in a statement, "The police pursued the three men, and they were subsequently arrested near the main road of Kuala Jelai-Gua Musang in Kampung Bukit Bira.
According to Zaki, the police also discovered an RC123 drone remote control device, 13 packages of tobacco, and 41 compressed packets containing tobacco.
