New York City Mayor Eric Adams Shuts Down Illegal E-cigarette Stores

Over 600 illegal e-cigarette shops shut down in New York City during "Lock Up Protection Operation," Mayor Eric Adams announced.

According to PIX11 reports on July 18, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that during the "Lock It Up" protection initiative, more than 600 illegal e-cigarette shops in the city have been closed.

Many of these stores have already closed. We will continue to work towards closing down these stores.

On Wednesday, authorities sealed off a deli in Throggs Neck after discovering illegal products. The seized products were valued at approximately $1 million and nine people were arrested.

Adams stated that some products are marketed specifically for children.

Adams said that these illegal products likely come from a well-organized, chain-store-like distributor.

They not only supply locally, but they may have distribution throughout the entire state.

New York City Police Chief Anthony Miranda stated that the community played a "key role" in shutting down illegal businesses.

They are often the first to come into contact and know about illegal shops... when these shops are operating or opening.
