New York Governor Signs Legislation to Combat Tobacco Sales
New York Governor Kathy Hochul signs legislation to combat tobacco sales by banning sales within buildings and vending machines.

According to World Today News on September 16th, Governor Kathy Hochul of New York State has signed public health legislation aimed at cracking down on tobacco sales in New York. This legislation aims to reduce the sale of tobacco products by banning the sale of tobacco products at booths and vending machines located inside buildings in the state of New York.

For decades, tobacco companies have been getting generations of New Yorkers addicted to nicotine," said Governor Hochul, "we are taking action to combat major tobacco companies by banning the sale of their harmful products inside buildings in New York State. Protecting public health is my top priority, and I will continue to prevent the sale and use of these dangerous and addictive products in New York.

The signed legislation amends the Public Buildings Law, prohibiting the sale of tobacco products on vending machines and concession stands leasing space in New York state. This ban will apply to new leases and contracts with the sellers. The legislation aims to align the Public Buildings Law with the tobacco sales laws and policies of other states.
