Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province Considers Ban on E-cigarettes
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan hints at full ban on e-cigarette use, implementing interim measures in Peshawar district.

According to a report from Pakobserver on June 23rd, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwestern Pakistan has indicated that it will completely ban the use of e-cigarette devices. Earlier this month, a notice was issued implementing temporary measures in the Peshawar district for 60 days, prohibiting the use of e-cigarettes, e-cigarette devices, and nicotine products in public places.


A deputy commissioner in Peshawar city stated in a notice issued on June 13th that


In order to protect the public's health from the detrimental effects of e-cigarettes, e-cigarette devices, and nicotine pouches, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has implemented temporary measures before imposing a complete ban on these products.

Los Angeles Cracks Down on Illicit Flavored Vapes and Counterfeit Goods: 12 Businesses Searched, 24 Arrested, Eight Truckloads Seized
Los Angeles authorities searched 12 businesses and arrested 24 people during a multi-agency operation targeting illicit flavored vaping products, flavored cigarettes and counterfeit merchandise on October 22, 2026. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said approximately eight tractor-trailer loads of merchandise were seized. Alleged violations involved flavored tobacco sales restrictions, tobacco licensing requirements and counterfeit trademark laws. Local, state and federal agencies participated. Authorities have not disclosed the number, brands or value of vaping products seized. Investigations remain ongoing.

PMI Expands Its Second Global and First Asian Business Services Hub in the Philippines, Serving 160 Markets and Scaling Up AI Capabilities
Philip Morris International's PMI Business Solutions Philippines has expanded its global business services hub in Makati and plans to add more than 80 positions. Established in 2021 primarily to provide finance and IT support to about 20 markets, the center now employs 519 professionals delivering roughly 600 services across 160 markets. Its functions now span finance, human resources, IT, commercial operations, data analytics, supply chain and project management. PMI says the hub's next phase will focus on AI-enabled and higher-value work. The company did not disclose the size or investment cost of the expansion.

Latest UK ONS Data: 54% of Vapers Are Former Cigarette Smokers, 26% Also Smoke and 20% Never Smoked Regularly
Former cigarette smokers accounted for an estimated 54% of current e-cigarette users in Great Britain in 2025, while 26% also smoked cigarettes and 20% had never regularly smoked, according to a 2Firsts analysis of Office for National Statistics (ONS) data. Among former cigarette smokers who currently vape, approximately 81% used e-cigarettes daily, compared with about 50% of dual users. The ONS found that 33.8% of current cigarette smokers also vaped in 2025, up from 10.6% in 2014. Approximately 1.1 million adults who had never regularly smoked cigarettes used e-cigarettes, representing 2.9% of that population, compared with 0.2% in 2014. The figures highlight differences in the composition, frequency of use and long-term trends across Britain's vaping population.

US ITC Judge Finds Glas Infringed Two JUUL Vape Patents, Recommends Restrictions on Related Imports——Glas Received FDA Marketing Authorization for Four Vape Pods in May 2026; Proposed Restrictions Remain Under Commission Review
A U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) administrative law judge issued an initial determination on October 20, 2026, finding that certain Glas vaping devices, cartridges and components infringed 12 claims across two patents asserted by JUUL, constituting a violation of Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The judge recommended a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order against the Glas respondents. Five months earlier, the FDA authorized four Glas e-cigarette pods, including mango, blueberry and two menthol variants. The patent investigation concerns device and cartridge structures and is separate from FDA premarket review. The proposed import restrictions have not become final, and their product-level scope remains unresolved.

Japan Survey Finds 49.5% Would Cut Tobacco Use if Prices Rise, 64.6% Show Interest in Nicotine-Free Alternatives
A September online survey commissioned by Japanese smoking-accessories company Lightec found that 49.5% of respondents would consider reducing tobacco use if prices rose further, while 25.1% would consider switching to cheaper brands and 14.5% would consider using or combining alternatives such as vapes and nicotine-free herbal sticks. Another 64.6% expressed some level of interest in such alternatives. The survey covered 1,088 respondents aged 20 to 70 and was conducted by a company that sells NICOLESS nicotine-free vaping and herbal-stick products, meaning its findings should not be treated as representative of Japan's smoking population.
