2Firsts, reporting from Shenzhen - Reynolds American plans to expand production at its operations center in Tobaccoville, USA, adding an estimated 300 new jobs, Wfmynews reported.

 

Reynolds American's Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Inclusion, Borgia Walker, said that the new positions will include roles in local manufacturing and national trade marketing.

 

The factory located in Tobaccoville is operating from the fall of 2024. This expansion is aimed at supporting the growth of its nicotine pouch brand, Velo Plus, which has been confimed by the Emily Weeks, Senior Corporate Communications Manager.

 

According to information provided by Reynolds American, the operating center in Tobaccoville spans over 2 million square feet, making it the largest manufacturing center within British American Tobacco's (BAT) subsidiary.

 

Reynolds American also hires over 500 positions in 2024, the majority of which are "directly related to our expanding smokeless portfolio ... and aligning our sales force to be even more competitive in the market".

 

Reynolds American said in a press conference that:

 

"Reynolds believes our multi-category strategy advances Tobacco Harm Reduction, and we are fully committed to being part of the solution to create a positive change in public health outcomes."

 

"We have an opportunity to offer adult smokers who do not wish to quit tobacco products altogether evidence-based, innovative product choices that are potentially less risky than traditional combustible cigarettes."

 

It is reported that Reynolds American had planned to cut 350 manufacturing jobs before 2024, as three of its factories had been relocated.
