Rigorous Crackdown on Oversized E-Cigarettes in UK
UK continues to crackdown on large capacity e-cigarettes, with customs seizing products and disrupting logistics operations.

Recently, a logistics provider for e-cigarettes disclosed to 2FIRSTS that the United Kingdom is still intensively scrutinizing the import of large quantities of e-cigarettes.

According to UK legislation, it is only permissible to sell disposable e-cigarettes with a maximum capacity of 2 milliliters, which amounts to approximately 600 puffs. Any activity exceeding this limit is considered illegal. However, the availability of e-cigarettes with larger capacities remains prevalent in the UK market.

Since June, UK customs, in conjunction with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), have been conducting thorough inspections of large quantities of e-cigarettes at airports. Any products found during these checks are immediately seized, resulting in many e-cigarette logistics companies involved in illicit trade being forced to cease operations.

According to an informed source who has been involved in the UK e-cigarette import business for a long time, the recent crackdown on large quantities has been ongoing from June to October. The source states that while crackdowns on large quantities occur periodically, with intense enforcement for a few months followed by relaxation for a few months, they are consistently intensified whenever there is a reported violation.
