According to the United Russia Nizhny Novgorod regional branch website, Mikhail Ivanov (Mikhail Ivanov)—deputy chair of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma and a deputy secretary of the United Russia Nizhny Novgorod regional branch—spoke to students at School No. 78 about the harms of vapes, electronic nicotine delivery systems, and nicotine-free liquids.
“I believe that with children we need to talk honestly on such topics, only with facts. Vapes and electronic nicotine delivery systems are not a harmless toy. It is a trap that undermines health stealthily,” Ivanov said, according to the report.
He added that efforts to combat the trend are underway at the highest level and said the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region has proposed banning vape sales and suggested making the region a pilot for implementation. Ivanov called it a “correct and timely step.”
He also said he repeatedly told students that being healthy is “truly fashionable,” adding that clean air, sport, and freedom from harmful habits are “in fashion,” the report said.
The report noted that meetings between deputies and schoolchildren on the harms of vapes, electronic cigarettes and nicotine-free liquids are being held across the Nizhny Novgorod region.
